I welded up the stock broken tack weld section, installed some o-rings around the bottom shift paddle so its tight in there and put in some new top pivot pins with a hose clamp around it. As with any of the 465 shifters that aren't modified (usually welded), the shifter is pretty wobbly on mine. This is most definitely not the case -- Even if your syncro ring lost all it's teeth, you could still get your transmission shift collar onto a gear, and have it not fall out of gear. 3rd gear enclave is goes out. . It's just held in place by a single roll pin and mine seems to have a lot of play. What size is the stud on the shift handle and the thread pitch? Apr 18, 2003 · The shifter on my SM465 is a little looser than I would like it, I took the shifter out and noticed there is a lot of slack where the bottom shifter piece is held on by the pin. what can I do to get rid of that slop? The shifter has a "snout" on it that engages the shift rail in the transmission.
